14-year-old shot dead for blowing a vuvuzela
A 14-year-old fan was shot dead minutes after he celebrated South Africa’s victory against number one favorites of group A, France. The incident took place near Durban City, South Africa, the teenager being twice shot in the head and once in the arm and died due to his serious wounds. Kid’s father declared his son was returning from the game celebrating happily and blowing vuvuzelas as a neighbor started to fire towards him. Finally, Police confirmed the incident declaring that the 35-year-old man who works as lawyer in Durban was immediately arrested for murder.
The killer declared on his own that he thought some robbers entered his garden and needed to open the fire. Furthermore, kid’s father declared in the same time: “Asanda (the kid) loved football and always blew his vuvuzela, even if his team lost, but my neighbor, who’d just moved here, doesn’t like the noise vuvuzelas make and I think that’s why he killed Asanda. After the game my son and his friends allegedly went into the neighbour’s yard, blowing their vuvuzelas. The boys say he was then shot.”

In the same time, a Police captain said: „The man thought the victim was a robber and shot at him.” The neighbor – who was under arrest and charged with murder – was later released on bail and waits now to appear before magistrates next month.
