The Nintendo 3DS has been recently released and one of the most impressive fighting video games is available on it: Super Street Fighter IV.

The fighting is very fluid, and fast just like in the case of the console versions. However, the game has some disadvantages, as it does not have an online tournament feature, and the graphics have been compromised as well. The users will be surprised to see that there is a touchscreen button interface, which allows them to customize it in the way they desire. One of the buttons can be a special move, for example, the other button can be a Super Move, and so on. This makes the game a little bit easier, especially for the beginners.
The gameplay is similar to the one of the console games. You have 35 characters at your disposal, and your main task is to beat a certain number of them in order to reach to the final boss: Seth, a character which made its appearance in Street Fighter IV. You can rest assured, as you have the possibility of choosing the original characters as well, such as Ryu, Ken, Zangief, Blanka, Vega, and so on. One of the most interesting things about this game is the fact that it is not like the others of its kind. Each character has its own speed, strength, HP, and so on. Zangief for example can do lots of damage, and he has a higher HP than other characters. However, he is very slow. Vega on the other hand, is very fast, but he does little damage, and his HP is very low. You will have to test each of the characters in order to see which one you enjoy the most.
Even if the game seems very simple, it is actually quite complex. You have to learn the way in which each character should be used, and on top of that you need to learn the way in which it should be used against other characters. You have to adapt yourself to the situation. If you have played the game before, you will not have a difficult time adjusting to it. Even if you are new to it, you can choose the training mode in order to learn the moves for each character. You will need to use combinational directional moves in order to launch Hadoukens, Shoryukens, and other special moves as well. The shoulder buttons need to be used in order to make certain combos and special moves, but the new touchscreen display can simplify things. Combos are very important, as they can do lots of damage to the opponent. They can be learned in the challenge mode. You can play the game in Arcade mode, in which you will have to fight against other computer controlled opponents. Each character has a story in which the reason why he/she fights in the tournament is explained, but it is not very important.
There are various difficulties you can choose from, and in case you are a beginner, you should start with the lowest difficulty. The game can be played in multiplayer as well. You can play wireless with people who are in your proximity, or you can use the Download Play option in which you play against human opponents who do not have the game, but who can play it. However, you should know that these players are limited to using one character, and that character is Ryu, probably the most recognizable character of the game. Multiplayer games can be played online as well, both in Quick match and custom game. The quick match option allows you to play the game against a random opponent, and the custom game allows you to customize various things prior to entering the match. The online games are pretty interesting, and way more exciting than the offline ones.
However, the gaming experience can be altered by the internet connection, and there are times when the matches will lag. This means that regardless of your skills, you might lose some of the games. Of course, this does not happen all the time, but when it does happen, the experience can be quite frustrating.
You win medals for various online accomplishments, and your online stats are recorded. Another very interesting feature of the online gameplay is the fact that you can “send” your profile to the other players. They will compete against it and the stats will make the difference. The more experience you get online, the tougher your online profile will be. The graphics are great, as the characters are very well defined. However, the background graphics had to be sacrificed in order to make the characters stand out. The 3D aspect of the game is pretty interesting, as it allows you to see the game from a different point of view. The frames per seconds rate drops when the game is played in 3D, but even so, the experience can be quite enjoyable. It can take a while until you get used to the proper way in which the controls work in 3D mode, but once you do, you will have lots of fun playing in this way.
