A United Airlines plane was forced to lend in Denver after it encountered severe turbulence while flying over Kansas and 30 people onboard were injured.

The flight from Dulles International Airport was heading to Los Angeles, but it had to land at Denver International Airport, where the medical crews were expecting them. 26 passengers and four crew members were injured, out of which one was in a critical shape, and they were transported to the local hospitals. Most of the injuries were bruises, whiplash, strains and sprains, and the majority of the passengers were released later that day. The plane was carrying a total of 255 passengers and 10 crew members and was flying over Kansas about 34,000 feet from the ground when it hit the turbulence. The passengers injured were mainly the ones that did not wear their seat belts tight.

There were similar cases of injuries during flight because of the turbulences. In February, 20 people were injured on the way from Washington to Tokyo while it carried 263 people onboard. In May, a United flight over the Atlantic Ocean from London to Los Angeles encountered severe turbulence causing 10 people to suffer injuries and the plane was diverted to Montreal.
