The al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility for sending the parcel bombs intercepted in the United Kingdom and Dubai one week ago. The terrorist organization also claimed  shooting down a cargo plain in Dubai this September, announced on Friday the United States central monitoring Islamist websites, SITE. According to SITE, the al Qaeda network broadcasted a message on the Internet forums that promote the Jihad and called for other bomb packages to be sent to other targets, including Western airliners as well as cargo planes, thus extendig its action range. AQAP’s statement also blamed Saudi Arabia for tipping off security services and allowing them to dicover the bombs in Britain and Dubai last Friday.

The terrorists also claimed the crash of an UPS cargo plane two months ago. The plane crashed over a military base near the airport in Dubai, killing the two crew members. ”We shot down the plane belonging to UPS company, but because the enemyʼs media did not assigned us the responsability for this activity, we remained silent until the time came to strike again,” the message said. And, according to SITE, the terrorist networked admitted to having placed, a few weeks later, two bomb packages aboard FedEx and UPS aircrafts.

These claims confirm the suspicions of the American investigators, who said that al Qaeda affiliates are responsable for manufacturing the two bombs hidden in the packages addressed to synagogues in Chicago. But they contradict the statement of the civil aviation authority from UAE about the UPS plane crash in September. Experts from the agency announced last week that they eliminated the possibility of an explosion on board the aircraft.

The United States authorities also said that they were not yet able to confirm that indeed the al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was behind the UPS plane crash, despite the fact that they have strong indications pointing to AQAP being responsable for the plot targeting Jewish synagogues in Chicago. Moreover, a UPS spokesman in the United States said the company could do no independent verification of what caused its Germany-bound Boeing 747-400 plane to crash after the pilot reported fire and smoke in the cockpit. Neverthelss, the Saudi authorities are taking al Qaeda claims very seriously and are now looking at all possible causes of the crash in September, including the possibility of a bomb that failed to detonate properly or another device sent to deliberately cause damage.

In their Internet message, the al Qaeda terrorists addressed directly to president Barack Obama, promising him to stroke down more American planes.
