Justin Bieber won four awards in the Sunday night American Music Awards ceremony, including artist of the year

Justin Bieber was the big winner of the 2010 edition of the American Music Awards. He dominated the Sunday night ceremony by winning four trophies. The 16 years old teen star was very happy with his success.

Justin Bieber won the awards for pop/rock male, breakthrough artist, album of the year with his “My World 2.0″ and artist of the year. So, Justin Bieber won the main award of the night in a category where he competed against Lady Gaga, Eminem, Katy Perry and Ke$ha, so there is no wonder that the singer is so proud of his work. But, Bieber did not make the night only about himself, but also about Usher who is according to the teenage star “not only my mentor but my best friend and my big brother.” Anyway, Usher also won two awards for male soul/R&B artist and for his album “Raymond v. Raymond.” The two stars hugged on the scene and Bieber also felt the need to thank the “King of Pop.” “I want to thank Michael Jackson, because without Michael Jackson none of us would be here,” Bieber said according to CNN news. Usher on the other hand did not call his success in the Sunday night ceremony his comeback, saying that there is no need for one in his case because “I’ve been doing it 18 years, ya’ll.”

Other winners of the night included Eminem, who got two trophies for male rap/hip-hop artist and for his album “Recovery.” Lady Gaga, who used us her presence in events of this kind received the award for pop/rock female, The Black Eyed Peas were awarded for pop/rock group, while young singer Taylor Swift is the winner for female country artist. “I only want to thank the fans,” Taylor Swift said. “You guys get me and you know where I’m coming from,” the singer who was last year’s big winner added.

Carrie Underwood was also awarded for country album of the year with her “Play on” and Brad Paisley received the trophy in male country artist category. Lady Antebellum won favorite country band, duo or group, Muse favorite alternative rock artist, while Shakira was awarded as favorite latin music artist. Michael Buble is favorite adult contemporary artist and Rihanna is the winner of favorite soul or R&B female artist.

Well, besides big winners including Bieber, Eminem and Usher, the show was also dominated by onstage performances. Rihanna, The Black Eyed Peas and Enrique Iglesias took the stage for their live performances.  The show continued with a performance from teen queen Miley Cyrus, who opted for a long dark gown and candles, and sang her “Forgiveness and Love” single. Katy Perry performed her latest single “Firework” and Bon Jovi took the stage for their latest success “What Do You Got?” but the legendary band also decided to sing some of their biggest hits, “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “It’s My Life.” Pink performed “Raise Your Glass,” and Taylor Swift opted for an emotional performance of “Back to December.”
