Anna Chapman, the Russian spy sends messages on Facebook
Earlier this month, ten Russian spies were sent back from the United States to Moscow in, what can be called a historical exchange of spies between the two countries. This is the most dramatic event of this kind since the Cold War and so it is an important focus point for media in both countries.
However, two weeks after the flight back and after the questioning that started in Moscow, where the service wanted to discover how was it possible for the spy to get caught and their identity revealed, the case still can raise interest. But, just one of the spies is the center of attention: Anna Chapman. The most photogenic member of “the spies’ crew” found somehow time to post a message on her Facebook page. In fact, she actually started negotiating with journalists on her first interview using the Facebook profile.
Anna Chapman began being interesting and visible to the media after posting seductive photographs on different social networking sites and because of that, the Russian Tabloids started calling her “Agent 90-60-90″. Because of her looks, Washington Post called her the “hot one”.
Well, even if the exchange deal between the US and Russian Services was really dramatic, the most important one since the Cold War end, Chapman managed to enter on her Facebook profile and this happened only a few hours after the arrival in Russia. Anna Chapman seems to be a Facebook addicted, but the lack of security settings on her profile allowed journalists to see and take all her photographs and messages. Well, after all even if her profile wasn’t public, Anne did accept the friends’ requests of many journalists and her popularity on the socializing network grows every day, so probably the Russian spy feels that she has nothing to hide. Quite ironic for a spy don’t you think?
However, she maintained being active on Facebook the following days, posting new messages and quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt. But no one can say for sure if Chapman is the one that updates the page herself or not. It could be anyone who knows the password of her account and journalists keep this supposition under their consideration. However, many other fake profiles were crated some of the actually writing at employer the “KGB”, which makes too obviously that the profile is not real. What is certain is that until now Anna Chapman has not given any interviews, though rumors say that she is only waiting and negotiating the price she will ask for her first interview.
Updating her profile information on Facebook is quite important for Anna Chapman. Still, until “the hot spy” is going to give her first interview, no matter what sum of money she will receive for it, she has to clear things with the Russian authorities. How could this happen after all? Ten spies being captured is something that Russian specialized services surly aren’t very happy about. However, none of them will be retained if their real identity discovery is not their fault or, in other words, is not because of some errors committed by them individually.
