Barcelona names Zubizarreta Sports Director
Former FC Barcelona goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta was charged with Sports Management of the Catalan team. Now 48, the Spanish goalkeeper replaces Txiki Begiristain, the previous Sport Director who left together with former Barca president Joan Laporta. The new club president Sandro Rosell who was named on the 1st of July had to take plenty of decisions at the very beginning, Zubizarreta appointing being also included among the club’s priorities. On the other hand, Josep Bartomeu vice-president for Sport mentioned that even Guardiola’s fate was also discussed, the board looking already for a new deal with the former Barcelona captain.The new Sports Director Zubizarreta will probably take care even of the Cesc Fabregas transferring, the club showing already interest for the Spanish striker who also can’t wait for the move from Arsenal.
The club officials also declared that many of the loaned player’s won’t be reintegrated into the main squad, including here Brazilian defender Henrique, Uruguay defender Martin Caceres, Belarus midfielder Aleksandr Hleb and Brazilian striker Keirrison. Barcelona won during the last season everything a team can win, including here Spanish Cup, La Liga, Champions League and World’s Biggest Clubs tournament. They also defended their title this year winning the first position in the last day of La Liga.11
