Berlusconi: “I Would Be Better Than Superman, If I Had Parties With 24 Women”

Silvio Berlusconi made an attempt to play down the information the prosecutors released to the public about his personal life and his sexual congresses with young women, which brought him the resentment of the entire Italy: “I would be better than Superman, if I had parties with 24 women,” he said, cracking a joke.

The 74-year-old famous media tycoon and Prime Minister of Italy is facing the most devastating scandal in his 17-year political career, since the prosecutors in Milan linked him to a belly dancer from Morocco, who is alleged to have participated in a party of his in the house near Milan.

Prosecution says the woman was caught shoplifting and the PM interfered by the police to obtain her release. Furthermore, the woman was 17 at the time Berlusconi had sex with her, they added.

At first, the woman denied she was underage, but on Wednesday new evidence emerged proving she was 17 at the time. The evidence was given by a flat mate from whom Berlusconi’s alleged sex partner stole 3,000 euros.

Tapped telephone conversations used by the investigation of the Milan prosecutors show that Berlusconi dispensed huge amounts of money to different starlets in exchange for sexual services.

Barbara Guerra, a model bought herself 25 pairs of shoes of Berlusconi’s money, Alessandra Sorcinelli, television showgirl and man’s magazine model, received some 20,000 euros. And so on.

As the case became public, Berlusconi was asked to resign his office if the allegations proved true. More and more Members of Parliament, business leaders and Church representatives continue to ask him to stand down.

Even the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, expressed hope that Berlusconi would respond before prosecution as soon as possible, so that the turmoil in Italy may come to an end.

If found guilty, Berlusconi risks three years in prison for having sex with an underage, and up to 12 years if the accusation of abuse of office is proved right.
