Miley's parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish, are getting divorced

Miley Cyrus’s parents are getting divorced. Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife Tish, after 17 years of marriage, on Tuesday in Tennessee, UsMagazine.com confirmed.
“As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,” the couple told People magazine in a statement. “We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers,” they added. The reason for the separation cited by this celebrity couple was “irreconcilable differences.” The divorce papers were filed in Williamson Country Chancery Court.

Singer Billy Ray, Miley’s father, was the one to filethe divorce papers. The 49 years old singer and his 43 years old wife, Tish have three kids together, Miley, who is 17 years old, their eldest child, Braison, aged 16, and Noah, who is only 10 years old. However, Tish also has two other children from a previous relationship, Trace and Brandi, who were also adopted by Billy Ray. Well, it seems that Billy Ray Cyrus is seeking for shared custody of their three minor children and an equitable division of the assets they obtained during the marriage.

Billy Ray is a country singer, best known for his 1992 hit, “Achy Breaky Heart.” However, the superstar of the family is Miley Cyrus, with whose career both Billy and Tish have been very supportive since the beginnings. Billy Ray also started in his daughter’s show, “Hannah Montana” and in the movie inspired by it. Several times, Miley said that she owes her success to her father and she credited him with helping her maintain a level head despite her huge fame. “It’s about being who you are. My dad has been in the spotlight for 20 years now and still every time he walks his dog they’re saying, ‘Billy Ray picks up dog poop,’ ” Miley said according to MTV news.

But, although Miley’s mother wasn’t so visible in her daughter’s career she has always been supportive with her, sometimes behind the scenes, as she recently was the executive producer on Miley’s movie, “The Last Song,” Miley also said that both her parents meant a great support for her when it comes to her career and they also were there for her when she had to deal with criticism in the press. And what Miley knows is that “At the end of the day my parents are proud of me.”

However, despite the fact that her parents are breaking up, Miley is still much focused on her career and the young star has a new project as she will release some new designs to her own fashion collection. Miley started working with fashion designer Max Azria for her fashion line in 2008.11
