According to a spokesman for Israeli Emergency Medical Services three or four injured were in serious condition, the rest of them being lightly injured by both the blast itself and the flying shrapnel. Among the wounded there were two pregnant women.
The people who were wounded were between the bus station and the bus itself.
The device was found in a phone booth near the Jerusalem’s central station, and was a medium size one.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack and no warnings had been issued by the security forces previously.
The attack comes at a time when relations with Palestinians are very tense, and at least 10 of them have died since Saturday as a result of an aerial strike executed by Palestinians.
Authorities expressed hope that those responsible would be brought before justice, saying that the city had enjoyed many years of calm and peace, and that this attack was a reminder of very bad times.
