Common Cancers Detected by Breath Tests
Is this actually possible? Can cancer be detected and therefore tried to fight it? According to some Israeli scientists a machine like an “electronic nose” can be used to determine whether you have some problems with cancer. It is used like a breathing test and the doctor will be able to tell whether you are suffering any of the following, lung, breast, bowel or prostate cancer.
This sensor is working so well as it can identify between a breath that is healthy and lets you know about any malignant forms of cancer that you may be dealing with in your body. It is believed to be so good as to identify exactly the form of cancer that you are suffering from.
Even though there are more tests to be done until the technology is fully developed, but they will however try and release a more simple machine until then and use it to diagnose cancer at an early stage.
How did the group of scientists get to this conclusion? They began studying the breath of a total number of 177 people. While some were perfectly healthy, some were suffering from a certain form of cancer. They are helpful and they have proved to be so, in detecting the chemicals that the cancer cells are emitting as they continue growing.
“If we can confirm these initial results in large-scale studies, this new technology could become a simple tool for early diagnosis of cancer along with imaging,” said Abraham Kuten of Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
