Commoners May Attend The Royal Wedding of William and Kate
The preparations for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton go on after the date and venue were established for April 29, 2011, and were announced yesterday in a royal house’s statement.
Now, another matter has been approached and solutions to it are being searched: William and Kate wish to have ordinary people attending their wedding.
The palace has dismissed allegations that a Willy Wonka-style lottery will be held to ascribe the coveted invitations for the great event to the commoners.
Sources told People magazine that it is more likely that the commoners that could attend the wedding will be coming from the charities the two are close to.
It is not sure who will be invited, but the palace has said that the model that will be followed is the one of Princess Diana’s funerals in 1997, when many people working in charity activities participated in the event.
Thus, campaigners for causes like eradicating homelessness, children’s welfare or cancer awareness are the more likely commoner candidates for the royal wedding.
Palace sources told the People that the two princes want to explore other areas but they made no comment as to which areas are being targeted.
The wish to involve people that are outside their family and friends circle suggests the desire of the young couple to inspire the spirit of a national celebration on this occasion.
There is talk about erecting big screens so that the people may watch on open spaces and enjoy the moment.
Prince William’s secretary said that the couple wishes everybody to enjoy this moment.
Other news is that Kate Middleton will be keeping her wedding dress secret from her bride until the big day, even though there are speculations that the choice of designer will be announced soon.
