DeFarra “Dean” Gaymon, an Atlanta Credit Union CEO was shot to death in a New Jersey park during an undercover police repression of public sex.

The family of the CEO does not believe that the police fired in self defense as they declared and are demanding a federal investigation. Gaymon, a 48 years old man, married and a father of four was shot in Branch Brook Park in Newark at 6 p.m. on 16th of July. The officer tat shot him told the Essex County Prosecutor’s office that he was searching for a pair of handcuffs that he had lost in the park earlier that day when he arrested someone. There he found Gaymon, who was “engaged in a sex act” alone, as the officer declared to the authorities. He placed Gaymon under arrest, but he panicked, assaulted the police officer and ran away threatening to kill the officer. Then he tried to disarm the police officer while he was reaching for something in his pocket, so the officer, fearing for his life, shot him in his abdomen. Gaymon died later at a nearby hospital.

Gaymon’s family does not agree with the officer‘s story of the shooting, saying that Gaymon was a family man and had no inclination towards violence, and not the king of person that would threaten police officers and resist authority. Katherine Carter, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor’s Office declared that the investigation is continuing to establish whether the police officer shot in self defense. At the time of the shooting the police officer was investigating complaints about public sex in that area of the park.
