Fabregas, too expensive for Barca
FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell declared the club cannot afford Fabregas anymore as they have only 50 million euro for spending on transfers. He also added there are no talks about Fabregas move, although everybody wants the striker to join the Catalan team, even Cesc himself, but as long as the Londoner club asked for about 60 million euro, the Spanish club hasn’t that money in order to make the deal. Rosell claimed for a Catalan TV channel Arsenal board does not listen to offers only to their pretentions: “Arsenal feels very hurt by Barca. They don’t want to listen to offers or sell and they are not putting the player (Fabregas) on the market. There was a strong dispute a few months ago and they have not forgotten it.” The Spanish club reported only 29 million earlier this summer as the English club turned down the offer.
Although the talks between the two clubs last for months, the clubs didn’t come to a clear decision, but to the opposite, these talks provided tense relations between the to giants. Anyhow, Rosell claimed he’s confident for the Spanish striker move to the Catalans, but his probably will take a while: „He (Fabregas) will arrive, even if it is not now, it will be next year. We will see. One thing that is certain is that we will not go mad trying to sign him. No shareholder would pay 60 or 70m euro for him. We will not go all out for him. We would only pay his value in the transfer market.” Barcelona’s new President claimed in the same time the club cannot afford the player even though they want him so bad: „The club has approximately 50 million euro net to spend on new players each season.”

„In the case of this season, buying David Villa combined with the sales of Yaya Toure and Dmytro Chygrynskiy balance themselves out. This means the club still has 50 million euros to spend.” So the Catalan team will have now to handle only David Villa’s move, as for the Fabregas it seems the club will have to wait until the next season. But this immediately produces a new question: What if Barcelona won’t afford the Spanish player the next season, too? As for Arsenal, plenty of chances they won’t reduce Fabregas price. The only alternative to remain would be that of Spanish club rising transfers budget. Barcelona ended the previous season first in Primera with 99 points to reach the Champions League groups; as for Arsenal, the team ended third – eleven points behind Chelsea to reach directly Champions League groups, too.
