Fidel Castro talks about a possible war in the Middle East

Cuban communist leader, Fidel Castro, spoke Monday for one hour without interruption, about the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program in his first televised intervention in the past three years, a few days after a rare public appearance.

Wearing a blue sports shirt and a checked shirt, Fidel Castro, 83 years old, has a slightly quivering voice, but he spoke easily, seated in front of a desk, a show entitled ” Round Table “, recorded without editing, Monday, in an unspecified place.

He talked about events in Cuba, despite the fact that the distribution issue coincided with the release on Monday evening, of a first group of 11 opponents in gradual release shares of 52 political prisoners, imprisoned since 2003.

This is the first video in which he makes its public appearance after a year and also his first intervention in a television broadcast in Cuba from 2007 until now.

This television appearance immediately after the publication of photos, taken Wednesday during a rare public appearance at Havana, the date on which he ceded power four years ago, to his brother Raul, aged 79, from health reasons.

Castro reiterated its “concerns” about the possibility of strained relations between Tehran and Western powers regarding Iran’s nuclear program leading to the outbreak of another war, this time nuclear, the Middle East, instigated, according to this known “anti-imperialist” U.S. and Israel.

Subsequently, the conflict could expand, in its view, to North Korea, which is also in U.S. collimator telescope.

Some employees of the hotel Nacional in Havana, which could pursue this issue on a large screen, could not hold tears, according to images broadcasted by Cuban television. “I’m excited to see El Comandante in shape,” said one employee, aged about 50 years.

Castro appeared on television the last time in 2007, all in one program “Roundtable” to talk about serious illness which forced later in February 2008 to formally renounce the exercise of presidential office.

Cuban press has published photos taken last weekend by Alex Castro, in which his father is now wearing the traditional sport shirt while visiting the National Center for Scientific Investigations, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of its establishment.

Although he retired from power, Castro has remained still, first secretary of the Communist Party, and sporadically receives his residence in Havana.

Since 2007, he published “reflections” on some current issues in local media.

President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, has released photos of a visit to Fidel Castro’s house where he was staying, by participating in a meeting of countries’ anti-imperialist “in Latin America, in December 2009.

Also, Castro was seen in February, while walking, accompanied by bodyguards, near his residence on the outskirts of the Cuban capital. This walk was initiated by the Venezuelan president, his neighbor, Hugo Chavez.
