A cold-blooded crime terrified the inhabitants of Tallahassee, a small town in northern Florida. A mother and her three children were found slain in their own home in the suburbs of the town on Saturday, and now the police are looking for possible clues that could lead them to the person who may have wanted to harm the woman and her small children.

The four vicitims are Brandi Peters, a single, stay-at-home 27-years-old mother, her twins 6-years-old girls and their 3-year-old brother. According to the investigators, the violent crime occured inside the house, but they refused to give any specific details on how the four lost their life. And now the police are trying to find out if anyone would want to hurt the family or something else may have motivated the killer to commit the gruesome crime.

The familyʼs home is situated in a subdivison built some five years ago a few mile from the campuses of Florida State University and Florida A&M University and is sorrounded by dense woods. A lot of families live in the neighborhood, which has experienced several burglaries in recent years, despite the fact that the crimes had waned due to incresed police patrols. But the authorities had not been called to Brandi Petersʼ home before the crime.

The bodies were found Saturday morning, around 10 a.m., after the police received a suspicious call. They went to the address and tried to look around the house and so forth, thus dicovering the bodies. By the afternoon, a crowd had already gathered outside the home, while investigators were examining the crime scene. Among them the police identified Dennis Williams, the half-btother of the slain woman, who told the police that they were not closed, but he knew that the woman cared about her children. While another neighbor said that her children often played with the three children found dead. She also mentioned that the two twin girls and the boy had different fathers, but none of the two man had been married to Brandi Peters.

The four bodies were taken to the coronerʼs office, and autopsies were performed on them on Sunday. But investigators did not release any details on the cause of death of the mother and her three children and only said that the autopsy determined that they were indeed the victims of an homicide. Instead, the law enforcement officials mentioned that there were no signs of forced entry to the house, and that only the police broke a glass near the door when trying to gain access to the house.

”I want to assure the public that we are following up on active leads in this case. There are obvious signs of violence in the house, but we cannot release details, as it would adversely affect our ability to solve this crime”, Tallahassee Police Department Chief Dennis Jones said. Anyone with any information about the family or who can give any details about what had happened is asked to call the Tallahassee Police Department at 850-891-4200.
