Furyk raised his third trophy in career

It is for the third time that Jim Furyk wins a trophy. On Sunday he has collected his last one at the Tour Championship to put his name for the first time on it, along with compatriot Tiger Woods. Thus, the American goes very happy in Wales to play for the Ryder Cup, too so he didn’t get time to celebrate his trophy that he had immediately to join the US team for the Ryder’s. He is also the PGA Tour player of the year as he also won the FedEx Cup. 10 million dollars went in his pocket due to Sunday’s victory.

“It just hit me. I was excited and dropped the putter and … I don’t know. I guess at that moment, you’re not really responsible for what happens next,” he would declare right after raising the cup over his head. Donald went head to head with Furyk as he chipped in a birdie from almost 100 feet on the 17th hole, thing which gave him confidence for a happy end. Well, this wasn’t meant to happen as Furyk hit a hybrid into bunker on the 18th, while during the 16th and 17th he made bogey. Donald claimed he didn’t want to go and play in the rain so he just waited to see how things would go and then to react. It seems somehow he had waited too long. “I didn’t feel like going out in the rain and drowning myself even more. So I was just watching the action, seeing if there was a chance I was going to get in a playoff. But Jim made a great up-and-down at the last and deserved the victory,” Donald added when Furyk was finishing at 8-under 272 to earn a 10 million dollar bonus plus 1.35 millions to jump to the fifth place in the world ranking.

Furyk missed the first playoff event joining here Woods as the only FedEx Cup winners who didn’t play the playoff. “It’s only 4 years old. But 40 years from now, there should be a lot of history in this trophy. And to have ‘Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk’ … I’m very proud of that, because those two can flat play — two of the most dominant players of my era, for sure,” the American said. However, it was this year’s FedEx that Kuchar did not win it although he went very close. He finally got second to earn a 3 million bonus, while Donald finished on third to gain an extra 2 million.11
