Henry Debuts the American Adventure with a Goal
Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Thierry Henry scored on his debut for the New York Red Bulls club. The French striker barely arrived in the US that he’s already scoring for his new team. The Red Bulls played a pre-season game against English Tottenham Hotspur, Henry’s ex-rivals in the Premier League years ago. 20,000 fans came on the New Jersey stadium to watch New York’s new star. The French player opened the score after 25 minutes and sent his team in advantage in the first half, this one also showing very good shape throughout the game, providing other chances for the Americans to raise the advantage. Henry showed himself impressed the way fans cheered him the entire game, this one promising the goals are about to come soon: “The reception was tremendous and every time I touched the ball they cheered. It was important for me to feel at home.”
“The goals are going to come,” he added in the end. New York Red Bulls coach declared in the same time the French player provides a massive impact for the team and gives plenty of confidence for everyone: “He’s going to make a massive, massive impact for us. But he’s only one player and he needs his team mates to feed him the killer passes.” However, the game ended with Americans defeat as the English produced the equalizer in the 62nd minute, the goal coming from Robbie Keane. Just ten minutes later, Tottenham were about to take the lead as Gareth Bale scored for the English victory, the match ending 2-1 for Spurs and with a defeat debut for Henry.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp declared right after the match that Henry is got a wonderful future thanks to the young team he has around him: “The young bloke from that first half, Henry, looks like he’s got a good future. He was fantastic. He’s a different class. He’s still a world class player. We were fortunate to win the game. We did okay. We’re just back in training.”

That’s good, I hope he makes an impact there. I believe his choice to leave Arsenal was a bad one, as he was still able to help the team.
