The controversy on building an Islamic center near New York’s ground zero continues and it has as well burst out. The Christians, the Jews and the Islamic leaders have met to further discuss a religious coalition between all of them and later on they denounced the anti – Muslim bigotry that has started to be very much sizeable in the United States.

“Our broader mission — to strengthen relations between the Western and Muslim worlds and to help counter radical ideology — lies not in skirting the margins of issues that have polarized relations within the Muslim world and between non-Muslims and Muslims. It lies in confronting them as a joint multifaith, multinational effort.” Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf expressed his beliefs.  Despite of the fact that he has been out of the country for at least two months, he has heard all about the situation here and he intends to put a stop to it and some middle decision be taken. He was away in a work travel, in order to promote the relations between the U.S. and the Muslims.

As he was in this journey and after having had some discussions into this, the Imam made some clear decisions, such as “We are proceeding with the community center, Cordoba House. More important, we are doing so with the support of the downtown community, government at all levels and leaders from across the religious spectrum, who will be our partners. I am convinced that it is the right thing to do for many reasons.”

They will state the multifaith approach that the Cordoba Initiative has deployed in concrete ways for years. “Cordoba, was inspired by the city in Spain where Muslims, Christians and Jews co-existed in the Middle Ages during a period of great cultural enrichment created by Muslims. Our initiative is intended to cultivate understanding among all religions and cultures.”

Among this believe there is as well a part of the population that the plan is too close to the site of the terror attacks and it comes like an affront of the memory of those that had died there in 9/11 attacks.

In sustaining his belief he as well involves the First Amendment Act according to which they are supposed to express religious tolerance. “There will be separate prayer spaces for Muslims, Christians, Jews and men and women of other faiths,” he wrote. “The center will also include a multifaith memorial dedicated to victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.”

He does not want to be considered that he is insensitive to the families of those that had disappeared in the attacks of 2001, and they will provide those families with all the support they can, but they will as well continue with the plans of building the community center. They need to make this center and to create it as an objective that they want to obtain, the unification and the healing of both the cultures, and not only, of the entire world.

Mayor of New York is most certain that this thing bursted like this as this is a political issue and as soon as the elections are over, this will as well be forgotten. “This is a political thing that all came up in two months — and it’s going to go away on November 4th,” he said.

As this weekend is the comemorary of the 9/11 attacks it coincides with the conclusion of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

As the coalition of faith leaders met with attorney general Eric Holder to discuss their concerns on how the population of America is to act upon this entire situation this weekend and now on, Mr. Eric Holder called the intent of burning the Quran as “idiotic and dangerous”. It can be regarded both as an act of free speech but as well as an act of violations of the Muslims sense of decency.

The U.S Secretary of State as well expressed her disapproval of this entire situation, stating “I am heartened by the clear, unequivocal condemnation of this disrespectful, disgraceful act that has come from American religious leaders of all faiths … as well as secular U.S. leaders and opinion makers,” she said.

In the Conference that was held after the coalition meeting, they stated, that this does not characterize a Democratic state and if America intends being considered likewise, it should think twice what a citizenship of America really means. What is happening is by far unacceptable and un – American. “We believe the best way to uphold America’s democratic values is to ensure that Muslims can exercise the same religious freedom enjoyed by everyone in America,” the statement read.

What the opponents of the Islamic Center are trying to let out is the new, so called “Islamophobia”. They are trying to make their thoughts as much exposed as they can and the intent of burning the Quran on 11th needs to signify the fact that “Islam is the Devil” a saying that they sustain and that they have as well created special shirts and coffee mugs with it.

Yes, in America it exists the freedom of speech but as well it exists the love for your brothers’ they can freely express but not recur to such things as they could endanger their brothers across the ocean. Radical Islam must be shown a certain amount of force and determination.11
