Iniesta wants Fabregas to join Barca
Barcelona’s midfielder Andres Iniesta the one who won everything a club and a national football team can win declared he’d love Cesc Fabregas to join the Catalans. It was two days ago when both Puyo and Pique already put Barcelona’s shirt over the Cesc’s head while celebrating the World Cup trophy in Madrid. Iniesta considers his national team mate would improve Barcelona’s quality, being also capable of maintaining the Catalans up there competing in the big European and International competitions: “His arrival would give us a huge jump up in quality and he would play his part to help us stay up there competing in the big competitions. We would love him to be here. Everybody has come out and spoken of the desire we have for him to be with us next season. We would be delighted. Not just because he is a team-mate and a friend, but because it would be great for the club.”
Asked if he was also the one who planned Fabregas „shirt joke”, Iniesta declared he wasn’t involved, but the two Puyol and Pique: “It wasn’t anything to do with me – it was the other two (Puyol and Pique) who carried out the joke. He is my team-mate and my friend and I wish him the best, and if he comes, we will all be delighted.” The Spanish midfielder described the way he felt right after he scored the only goal in the World Cup final – an action which was set by his team mate, Fabregas: „It is one of the most beautiful feelings that a person can experience.”
“I was just waiting for the pass from Cesc, who was looking phenomenal. It came very quickly and I was so alone (in the area) that I thought I was offside. But I controlled it well and when I hit it I knew it had to go in because going to penalties would have been terrible.” Spain beat the Netherlands in the World Cup final on Sunday at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg in a dramatic and also tense 1-0 victory attributed to Vicente del Bosque’s team, Iniesta scoring three minutes before the final whistle which might have extend the game to the shoot-out.11
