Is J Lo the next American Idol Judge?
“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I loved discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings” Ellen declared. Probably many people are feeling sad that Ellen took this decision, but the show must go one. So, who is going to take her place in the American Idol show judges’ bench? It looks like the answer to this question is Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer Lopez is not at her first attempt in closing a deal with the show producers. She is however close to join Fox TV’s hit singing contest. The singer and actress who has played in movies such as “Selena,” ”The Wedding Planner” and the last release “The Back-Up Plan” had previous contacts with the show, appearing as mentor for the “Idol” contestants. And despite the fact that she just released a new movie, J Lo hasn’t ended it with music. In fact she has been working a lot on her “Love?” album. Jennifer Lopez is happily married to Marc Anthony, the couple having twins.
“American Idol” show is now submitted to a remake and the producers weren’t caught by surprise with the news that Ellen is leaving. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next,” the popular TV host declared.
It’s almost a year since Ellen occupied the place remained vacant in august 2009. Paula Abdul, the “American Idol” judge that was considered to be the nicest one left the show because of a contract issue. Since then contestants got Ellen’s reviews.
However, the 52 years old TV host wasn’t satisfied with this position and she just considers it is not for her. Although she loves supporting talented young people, she finds it very hard to hurt their feelings and a judge must be impartial. Anyway, the decision has been taken and Ellen decided to leave. “I’ve voted myself off ‘American Idol,’” she mentioned on her Twitter account. And things ended with no hard feelings between Ellen and the TV show producers, who respected her decision. “We were fortunate to receive the humor, energy and love for talent that she brought to the show,” Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment for Fox Networks Group said.
Anyway, now that Ellen is gone, someone has to take her place and it seems that most rumors lead to Jennifer Lopez. The 41 years old actress and singer will probably be the one forming the judge team of “American Idol” besides Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. However, there are also some rumors about a judging team formed only by Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, Kara DioGuardi being fired from the show. Well, until something happens, the only thing that is certain is that there will be no more Ellen in “American Idol”.11
