Islamic Jihad Movement Calls For Wiping Israel Out of Existence
Islamic Jihad Movement leaders organized a rally in the Gaza Strip against Israel on Friday with participation of more than 10,000 chanting “Death to America,” and “Death to Israel.”
Young people wearing with T-shirts with a slogan in shape of a riffle were carrying the portraits of people killed in combat.
A recorded message was sent by Ramadan Shallah, exiled leader of Islamic Jihad Movement, who resides in Syria, in which he marked the anniversary of the assassination of leader Fathi Shiqaqi in Malta in 1995.
Shallah said that Israel will never bring peace to the region, and therefore it is imperative that it is wiped out of existence.
Hamas senior leaders attended the rally, which was the largest in years to honor the Islamic Jihad. Hamas provided the Islamic Jihad the terrains it uses for its own rallies.
The turnout was considered by the leaders of the movement as a referendum against the projects of peace-making with the Israelis.
Shallah said the negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis reached a deadlock and it is time the gap between Abbas’s Fatah and the Islamic movements be bridged to the purpose of a future cooperation.
The point of view was shared by the Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya, who urged for a united position in front of Israel.
“There is only room for Jihad,” Hayya said. There is no more room for trusting the Americans or anyone else.
In any event, President Abbas, leader of Fatah, is supposed to never admit going back to the era of violent attacks against the Israelis.
Islamic Jihad Movement is a radical movement known in the 1980s for stabbing Israelis who came in Gaza to buy cheap goods, then it moved to Israel, where it attacked Israelis with bombs and guns.
The movement was listed by the United States as a terrorist organization.11
