Jackson rejoins Lakers job
Phil Jackson rejoins L.A. Lakers coaching job after he declared his retiring from the team. The 64-year-old manager said the team can count on him during the next season in the NBA. Jackson, who won his 11th NBA title last month with Lakers said he remains for one more season to win another title with L.A. Although he suffered more medical problems in 2003 and 2006 which made him announcing the retirement throughout the past years, Phil Jackson still managed Lakers winning plenty titles. The American coach is member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and won two times NBA championship during his activity as a player.
Still, his biggest basketball performances regard his coaching activity bringing six NBA titles to Chicago Bulls and five to the Lakers, including this last season’s one. Asked about his return to the L.A. job, he declared: “After a couple weeks of deliberation, it is time to get back to the challenge of putting together a team that can defend its title in the 2010-11season. It’ll be the last stand for me, and I hope a grand one.”
Finally, the club manager, Mitch Kupchak said: „We’re extremely pleased that Phil has decided to return,” adding „With this most recent championship, we’ve now won five titles in the ten years he’s been our head coach and have been to the Finals in seven of those ten years, which is amazing.”
