Maitake Mushrooms Help You Prevent Cancer

The botanical name of this mushroom – grifola frondosa – is the best known all over the world. However, “maitake” is a term that is used by the Japanese and it means in translation form – dancing mushrooms. Rather than being just a mere mushroom that can be found in clusters at the base of trees, mainly of oaks, it is regarded by the Chinese and the Japanese herbology as a medical mushroom.

Recently the use of this particular plant started to be taken into account as a part of the therapy treatment in the patients that were suffering from different tumors. Meanwhile after making various studies, it was a proven fact that this mushroom completely changes in a good manner the general state of the patients. It does this by stimulating the hematopoietic.

Apart from being regarded as a medicine to have stronger effects, it is as well used in the making of different foods, due to its intense savor it gives to the food. Traditionally it is as well appreciated for its curative capacity and not just in the cancer case it actually proved to be useful but as well in some other diseases, such as diabetes and the bone stimulation.

It contains the so called structure β – glucan, which through its active substances can increase the immunity in a system. This is one of the main reason for which it is good in both treating and preventing cancer. As it creates such a big protection against the infections that usually has a fast development, and puts a stop to it and in the worse case just slows it down.

Moreover, the β – glucan stimulates the production of interleukins and interferon, which both have a very important role in fighting against cancerous cells. According to a study that was performed on patients that suffered from advanced phases of cancer, the addition of this mushroom to their treatment, could put a stop to at most 75% to various types of cancers – breast cancer, pulmonary cancer, hepatic cancer, pancreatic cancer.

It is therefore recommended as an adjuvant in radio therapy and chemotherapy, as it may reduce as well the side effects of these treatments, such as nausea, dizziness, loss of hair, pain and by this, increase the quality of these people. Before choosing to use it, ask for your doctor’s advice.
