Although Argentina’s coach decision will be publically announced the next period, Maradona already declared for a newspaper the “chapter had ended”, referring to his team coaching activity. Sent home due to a shameful 4-0 defeat against Germany in the quarter final, both Maradona and the team suffered an unexpected shock which broke Argentinean’s hearts and dream. Despite the fact that no official resignation was confirmed by Argentina’s FA, there are many chances for Maradona to give up his job, at least that’s what his own words say.

On the other hand, Maradona’s assistant Alejandro Mancuso declared on Monday the coach would continue his work at the team: “Knowing Diego it’s hard to think that he’d step down after not reaching the goal of winning the World Cup. We can’t dismiss all the good things he’s done.” One of Maradona’s closest friends also said: „I still can’t confirm it, (the resignation) is something that’s being discussed. Diego is at home with his family thinking this over.”

Even Argentina’s president Cristina Fernandez had a public message for Maradona, trying to motivate him and convince to continue with the team: „Hang in there, Diego! No Argentine has given us some much happiness on the football field like Diego Maradona.” The coach himself declared these days the defeat against Germany brought him the hardest day of his entire life, the result making both Maradona and Messi cry at the end of the match.
