Miss Mexico Is The New Beauty Queen
The pageant is over and the new Beauty Queen has been crowned. Not in the first three according to the online vote made until the pageant day, but the most beautiful woman in the Universe is Miss Mexico.The 22 years old woman who represented Mexico won the pageant that took place on Monday night. She proved once again that women in South America have no competition when it comes to beauty. Miss Mexico wore a red dress and tried to impress the audience by telling them that the most important thing is to teach kids family values. How many contestants said “world peace” or things have changed?
Miss Universe 2010, Jimena Navarrete Rosete aka Ximena, comes from Guadalajara. She actually was the first one to answer the interview questions from the 83 contestants. She was asked by Evan Lysacek, the Olympic gold-medal figure skater, her opinion about Internet use and its influence on kids. The contestant said she felt that Internet should be used by children only with their parents’ control. “I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time,” Jimena said. “We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family,” she added.
But, it looks like the 22 year-old managed to impress the judges and also the viewers after her interview, the bikini competition, when she opted for violet, and also the evening gown competition, when Jimena wore a red beautiful dress.
However, Jimena Navarrete brings the title to Mexico after 19 years. She is the second girl from the country to be named the most beautiful woman in the universe after the title obtained in 1991 by Lupita Jones. The second place was occupied by Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while the third by Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell. Miss Venezuela, Marelisa Gibson, who was considered before the pageant one of the potential winners, and Miss USA Rima Fakih didn’t make it at least in the top 15 finalists.
Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell won Miss Congeniality Universe award, while Miss Thailand Fonthip Watcharatrakul received Miss Photogenic Universe. She also won a second award for the best national costume.
Well, Miss World, Jimena Navarrete, received many things besides the title. She got a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy, jewelry, clothes and shoes, an undisclosed salary and also an apartment in New York with living expenses covered. Well, it looks like trying your best to win the title and all the efforts she made to achieve it turned out to be quite a good decision for the girl who will be moving in New York.
People from over 190 countries watched the pageant and hoped their favorite girl to win. Only the 15 finalists walked in swimsuits, while the 10 that made it into the final presented their evening gowns. During the show there weren’t any unexpected or undesired moments, well maybe except Miss Philippines’ answer to the question about her biggest mistake in life and the way she fixed it. “In my 22 years of existence, I can say there is nothing major,” the girl said. Well, maybe it is the truth after all and she was just really honest. Although she was considered to have big chances in winning the contest, she ended in the fifth position.
