Murray Clinches Bangkok Title

Murray wins third season title in Thailand
World number four Andy Murray has won his third title of the season after easing past American Donald Young in two sets, 6-2, 6-0 in the Bangkok final.
The Scott, also winner of this term’s Queen’s and Cincinnati events, needed just 47 minutes to hoist the Thai trophy, in what paradoxically was his clearest win of the week. Murray broke his opponent twice in the opener and managed to keep the sheet clean throughout the entire second term which saw Young losing the pace very easily.
The American, who was at his first final appearance this year, only converted a couple of services, conceding the victory easier than expected. Murray, who had had a hard life in the semi finals, provided some of his best tennis in the last term, finishing the clash with zero double faults and an impressive break point percentage.
Andy left the court with five aces, five break point conversions in five tries and a 76 first serve percentage. He also won 78 percent of service points and 65 of return ones, picking at the same time 51 points out of 71 played.
On the other side, Young, who hit zero aces and committed a double fault, was given no chance to build a break point, finishing the final with a poor 22 return percentage, a 35 service one and 20 points won. He managed instead to impress with a 74 first serve percentage, insufficient though for a victory in front of a much better shaped Murray.
“In terms of the way I’m playing it’s very good to get off to a start like that on this stretch and hopefully I can continue that through Shanghai. “It’s a very good start. Roger Federer always plays very well on the European indoor courts, so I’m sure I’m going to have to win a lot more matches if I want to finish No. 3,” said Andy after the game.
En route to the final, Murray edged seed Gilles Simon in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 and Girgor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-4 in the best eight term. The Scott made his debut with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Michael Berrer. On the other side, Donald Young stunned second seed Gale Monfils 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the previous term and ousted revelation Go Soeda 6-1, 6-2 in the quarter finals.
The American also made a free progress into the second term after Igor Andreev’s abandon and edged another seeder Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-1, 6-7, 7-5 in the second round. The Scott is to bank $107,000 and grab 250 points ATP, while the United States player is to pocket $56,300 and 150 points ATP.
Andy Murray has already lined up to the Tokyo event where the second seed will meet Marcos Baghdatis, who is also following an impressive showing in Kuala Lumpur, in the first term. Rafa Nadal is top seeded in Japan and is to meet Go Soeda in the opener.
