Myths About Organic Food
Organic food is supposed to taste better, have better qualities, be safer and, of course,
contribute more to keeping the environment a clean and green space. But is it always this way? Or are we already indulging ourselves with prototypes and stereotypes regarding the whole green and lifestyle matter? Here are some of the best known myths about organic food.
Myth #1 : Organic food is always better for the environment. Cultivating organic products is a double-way road; on one side, organics don’t contaminate the soil and groundwater with chemicals, pesticides like regular farming does. But, on the other hand, organic farming is far less productive than conventional farming so it will basically require far more land to produce the same amount of food.
Myth #2 : Organic food tastes better. Well nobody was actually able to tell the difference, except in one study about apples, where the organic products, in deed, tasted better. The only advantage organic fruits and vegetables have is that you can buy them fresh, from local farmers and shops; because, let’s face it, no food will taste the same after being distributed half world around, waxed or kept for a week in the grocery store.
