In a previous article I presented you 10 possible discoveries which might appear in the following 30 years. There were included in various domains, such as sports, transport, energy, economy, and so on.

In what follows I am going to present you other ten discoveries which might appear in the next three decades, but this time in other domains. Just like in the case of the previous article I should mention that these predictions are pure fiction, and that there aren’t any concrete evidences which indicate that this is the way in which things will evolve.

#10
Theatres Will Become Rarer

Since the technology will evolve, it is very likely that the theatre will become less and less popular in the following years. People will stop attending them, and the artists will not be much respected. Instead of theatres there will be clubs where the forms of entertainment will be very different than the ones which we have today.  Artists will start organizing their own theatres as a form of protest against the treatment of the governments. The messages of these plays will be more political.

Katie Mitchell, who is a theatre director, believes that the women will become a bigger force in the domain, as more of them will become directors and there will be way more actresses than there are nowadays.

#9
Fashion Will Be Technological

Some people put a very high price on the clothes which they wear, as they consider them the best way of expressing yourself. It is said that the clothes can make or break a man, and that the status of the individual is often dictated by the clothes which he/she wars. Think about the dandysm, about the people who became just as important as the princes and the kings of their period because they knew how to dress in the proper manner. There are many people who believe that in the future, clothes will represent more than a piece of fabric which has the task of protecting us from the cold. Clothes will become a way of expressing our identity, and of expressing certain messages.

There already are certain smart clothes which can achieve certain impressive features. There are clothes which have incorporated LEDs that can transmit messages; and the technology will become improved in the future. In 2040 we might have clothes which can analyze our health, they might monitor our blood pressure, temperature, and blood sugar levels, and so on. There might even be clothes which can repair themselves in case they tear. Our relationship and conception regarding the clothes has changed a lot in the last 30 years, and it is very likely that the same thing will happen in the following 30 years. The clothes might become much priced in the following 3 decades, or they might become pretty irrelevant.

The Designs of the Buildings and Cities Will Change

The population will be much higher by 2040, and because of that many of us will be forced to live in very confined spaces, similar to the favelas from certain poor countries. Some believe that this will be a good thing, as the homes will be comfortable, and the people will be very united. Since they will be in a very close proximity to each other, they will feel the need to protect themselves. The concept of city and urban areas will be changed. The way in which cities are run nowadays will be changed in the future, as a single authority will not be able to take care of the problem. People will stop identifying with the city they live in, and they will identify with the small region where their home is located.

There will still be rich people who will live in isolated areas. Sine the technology will evolve; it is very likely that the architecture will evolve as well. Some say that we might even have very big buildings which will act as a city. They will be miles high and long, and they will be able to house tens of thousands of people. Of course, this sounds very improbable now, but lots of things can happen in the next 30 years.

#7
Video Games Will Become More Real

Video games have become very important in the last two decades, and the video game industry is making billions of dollars. Call of Duty Black Ops was released months ago, and in very short time it managed to make $1 billion. Tens of millions of people are playing online games, such as Second Life, and World of Warcraft. It is believed that in the following 30 years things will change. We will still play games, but they will be very close to reality. Some say that the events which take place in the real world will influence the games. That might not be too hard to achieve. For example in the FIFA series from EA Sports, you have the option of playing a live season. That means that when a player gets injured in real life, the player will get injured in the game as well. Of course, this is just a basic explanation, but the principle remains the same. There are others who believe that we might be able to play the games while we are in real life.

Instead of taking the PSP and play a game while we are waiting for the bus, we might connect ourselves to a virtual reality world. It would be a world similar to the one presented in certain movies, such as Matrix or eXistenZ. Many believe that the games will become more physical, in the sense that we will have to interact with the characters from a physical point of view. For example we might be required to shake the hand of a character in order to make the story progress, and so on. It is also believed that the games will become much more educational in the future, and people might even play games in order to solve real life problems. For example they might play simulation games, where they have to complete certain tasks which would be the same as the ones from reality. People like to play cooperative games more than they like to play competitive games, and that information might be used in order to make them work together in real life. Back in the days when gaming started to become popular, all of the games were based on individuality; you either played against the computer or against a different human player. Things have changed nowadays, as there are many games which put the emphasis on team work. There are many shooters such as Halo, or Call of Duty which require team work. Even the sports games have started to implement this idea, as they allow you to create a virtual team formed from human players in order to compete against other players.

Games are also beneficial for the human health, as many of them can improve the way in which we think, our reflexes, and so on. The games might be able to cure certain illnesses, such as depression, and so on.

#6
Fauna and Flora Will be Redefined

The situation of the fauna and flora is very fragile, and we are the ones responsible for it. There are many species which are in the danger of becoming extinct, and it is very likely that much more will be in the same situation in the next three decades. I know that you would have wanted to hear that everything would be OK, and that we will still have the same animals that we have today, but the experts believe that the opposite thing will happen. Luckily in the last 50 years we have started to become more aware and caring when it comes to the situation of the flora and fauna. It is said that the more we know about the reasons why the animals disappear, the higher the chances are for us to rescue them.

The problem is that by 2040, the human population will be much larger than it is nowadays. Like I said, we are the ones responsible for the situation of the animals, and since we will be more in the following years, it is very likely that the damage which we will do to the animals will be increased as well. The nature will become much more affected by our actions in the following three decades, and unless we do not change our mentality things will be very bad. Many animals which exist today will become extinct, and since we will expand, it is very likely that many animals will live in the city. Because of that they will be in a higher risk of dying. Of course, there will be more regions dedicated to the conservation of the species. It is very likely that some of the species will live only in those areas as they will not have any chances of living in the outside world.
