The Filipino claimed his eighth title after demolished Margarito

Not only that he dominated all 12 rounds, but he also looked almost immaculate in the end. On contrast, he closed Mexican’s right eye and opening a cut in his cheek. Manny Pacquiao beat Antonio Margarito on Saturday at Cowboys Stadium after he recorded an unanimous points victory that brought him the eighth title in career. The Filipino completes thus the 112, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, 147 weight categories with the 154 one. Although Margarito had a 17-pound weight advantage over the champion, he couldn’t take advantage of that, being dominated from all points of view.

Pacquiao won round after round as Margarito’s face started to look a bloody mess to look almost stunned in the end as he couldn’t believe his eyes he defeated someone bigger and almost same experienced. Although he proved to be by far weaker than Pacquiao, Margarito couldn’t believe instead that he’s been gonged to quit. “I’m a Mexican, we fight until the end,” he would declare after the fight ended. However, the Mexican was defeated 120-108 as Pacquaio’s trainer Freddie Roach declared at the end he preferred the fight would have been stopped. Fair-play is what Pacquaio also wanted. “I told the referee, `Look at his eyes, look at his cuts. I did not want to damage him permanently. That’s not what boxing is about,” he said.

It was the 11th round when the Filipino told this to the referee. But the referee would continue the fight transforming Margarito’s face in everything else but a human’s one. Even Pacquiao’s trainer advised him not to knock-out the Mexican but take it easy. The Filipino did so and from one point he would only fight at less intensity. “In the 12th round I wasn’t looking for a knockout. I take it easy because my trainer told me to take it easy and just be careful,” said the WBC super welterweight winner.

After Margarito hurt him seriously in the middle rounds, Pacquaio’s dominance was reflected in his 474-229 punches. The victory made him 15$ million richer, but he will return the following days in Philippines to do the ‘public servant’ job. But the Filipino would admit at the end of the fight that this was the hardest one in his entire boxing career. Thus, he improve his career record to 52-3-2 with 38 knockouts.
