In the wake of the announcement made by President Barack Obama that Osama bin Laden was killed details of the operation were delivered, and conspiracy theories spawned, especially as a consequence of the lack of a dead body to show.

American president announced yesterday that the body of the # 1 terrorist was thrown into the sea (probably to prevent turning him into a martyr), which raised the first set of questions, many considering that the lack of a body to be shown to the public could be indicative of the fact that the killing never took place.

The photo that was circulated on the internet was also criticized and considered a fake, not to mention that it is being said that it had been on display for years on websites.

Notwithstanding these theories, the White House presented details about the operation that led to shooting Osama in the head.

Thus, it is said that much information about the terrorist’s whereabouts was provided by intelligence obtained in the CIA prisons in Romania and Poland (Romania denied officially having hosted such prisons on its territory).

It is said that while being subjected to an “enhanced interrogation” in Romania and Poland, two leaders of Al-Qaeda released the name of bin Laden’s trusted courier.

Once they knew the name, they watched the man behind it trying to find out the location of bin Laden.

They found out where he was hiding last August, and ever since the U.S. military has been preparing the capture.

Obama authorized the mission on Friday but it was postponed because of the weather conditions.

The fact that bin Laden was hiding in plain sight at the outskirts of Pakistani capital city turns the hit on this country that is considered an ally of the Americans in the fight against terrorism.

Pakistan is accused of playing a double game, an accusation it had to face last year, when WikiLeaks released information on the campaign in Afghanistan and said Pakistan was hosting terrorists or at least had connections with some of them.

While the question is raised as to how is it possible that the security forces of Pakistan had no knowledge of the situation, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari denied, in an essay published in the Washington Post on Monday, that security forces sheltered him, saying that it was with their help that the American forces killed Osama bin Laden.

Bin Laden’s $1 million compound was located nearby the Pakistani Military Academy in Abbottabad, near Islamabad.

The threat possible retaliation may pose forced most European nations to increase their level of anti-terrorist alert.

Romania has even accepted the anti-missile shield to be located on its territory, a project previously dismissed by Poland and Czech Republic on the grounds that it is ineffective.

In November last year the Nato Summit in Portugal decided that Russia and Nato will cooperate in assuring the protection of Europe against such threats.
