President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, addressed on Saturday the problem of the settlement buildings in West Bank after a meeting in Ramallah with the president of Chile, Sebastian Pinera, demanding that Israel puts an end to the colonial occupation and returns the land to the Palestinians.
Abbas said that it was time for the Palestinian Authorities to become a full member of the United Nations Organization, and reiterated his steady opposition toward the idea of a Palestinian state with temporary borders.
He went on expressing hope that by September the international community would acknowledge the state of Palestine within the borders of 1967, and accused the Israelis for the stalemate of the negotiations.

The leader called on the members of the Quartet, the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia, to enforce measures that would end Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.
“Palestinians deserve freedom and independence and to live in their own country like everybody else in the world,” Abbas said.
He added that Palestine has concluded the process of building democratic institutions that would ensure its function as an independent state.
Palestinian Authority and Israel engaged in a short direct talk session that lasted two rounds last September, until Israel resumed building colonies in the West Bank.
Various options were searched for the resumption of talks, and they all failed, leaving Palestinian the option to declare unilaterally the state, a move considered unacceptable by the Israelis.
Several Southern American countries, including Chile, agreed to recognize the new state.
