Paris Hilton Makes Deal To Stay Away From Prison

Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton has decided to plead guilty at two of the charges she had to face after being arrested in Las Vegas.
The 29 years old singer, actress and reality star was arrested on August 26 and according to the police representatives it all happened because a small plastic bag of cocaine fell out of Paris’s purse, when she was searching a lip balm in her Chanel accessory. The whole event took place right in front of the policeman. The car driven by her boyfriend was initially stopped by the cops because they saw smoke and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Even though at first Paris told everyone that the purse wasn’t hers, later she claimed some of the objects contained in it to be hers and she asked them back, including $1,300 in cash and several credit cards.
The deal made by the Hilton empire heiress with the case prosecutors says that she won’t be facing jail, but she will have to serve a year of probation and avoid a felony conviction in this period of time. This means that Paris will have to complete a drug abuse program and pay a $2,000 fine. She will also have to serve 200 hours of community service. However, Paris accepted to plead guilty at two of the charges, regarding drug possession and obstructing an officer.
Clark County District Attorney, David Roger, and Paris Hilton’s attorney confirmed that the plea deal has been set and Paris will not be sent to jail. According to David Roger they just wanted to make Paris stay away from trouble and the promise she will have to make to respect the terms of the deal is the best way to accomplish this goal. “We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future. If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center,” he said being quoted by Las Vegas Review Journal. “If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation she will spend a year in jail,” Roger said according to the Associated Press. “There will be no discussion. The court will have no discretion,” he added. Does this mean that Paris will be out of trouble? It definitely didn’t work out for Lindsay Lohan, but maybe it will for the 29 years old star.
“Defendant shall stay out of trouble. Defendant agrees that an arrest for any charge, excluding minor traffic violations for which a citation is issued, shall result in the immediate termination of her probation and the execution of the suspended sentences,” the deal includes.
On the other hand, Paris Hilton’s lawyer, David Chesnoff said that she won’t be given a probation officer. “Ms. Hilton understands the seriousness of the situation and appreciates the chance she is being given,” Chesnoff told The Associated Press. “She has to stay out of trouble.” This means that Paris can’t break the law, but who will be there to check on her?
If it is the week of celebrities being involved in legal issues, there must have been released some news about Paris Hilton. Well, maybe the event took place a few weeks ago, but still nothing was certain regarding the way her trial will end. So, was it expected for Paris to get rid of the potential sentence so easy this time, as she usually does?11
