Paz De La Huerta was charged with assault, linked to an incident that took place last month (celebsalon.sheknows.com)

Actress Paz De La Huerta was charged with third-degree assault, reports indicate. The star was present in court yesterday.
The case was actually linked to an event that took place about a month ago, when it seems that the actress “beat a television TV star bloody.” The star punched another woman, Samantha Swetra, and then threw a glass at her, that reportedly cut her leg. Lindsay Lohan was also at the event and witnessed the incidents. Reports claimed that Samantha got punched in the face by the star at the Standard Hotel bar in New York, on March 20. Samantha Swetra is also an actress, the star being well known for her role on MTV’s reality show, “The City.”

Anyway, Paz De La Huerta was present in court to face the accusations, but she made no comments. Still, according to a TMZ report, Paz De La Huerta received five misdemeanor charges that included attempted assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and two counts of third-degree assault. According to Paz De La Huerta, things got violent only when Samantha began making negative comments about her. On the other hand, Samantha claimed she had never met Paz before and the woman was really drunk when the incidents occurred.

So, things are not looking very well for the 26 year old actress. And now all the star wants is to have everything cleared up and she is “asking people not to rush to judgment.” It seems that the star will have to be in court again on May 19. Her last court hearing took place on Wednesday. A temporary restraining order was issued against De La Huerta for the woman that she assaulted, former model Samantha Swetra. Anyway, if convicted, De La Huerta can face up to one year in jail.11
