World number 52 Ksenia Pervak has captured her first singles career title after defeating Eva Birnerova in two sets 6-3, 6-1 in the Tashkent final to finish the tournament with the sheet clean and no sets dropped.

It took the top seed one hour and 11 minutes to seal her biggest victory ever. Pervak, who did not lose any set throughout the entire week in Uzbekistan, converted seven out of nine break points and only conceded three services, two of which in the opener. The Russian broke week’s revelation Birnerova four times in the first set and managed to control the game at all facets.

On the other side the Czech, who had previously upset Alla Kudryavtseva, was given no chance to take the lead, leaving the court with a poor showing which included, among others, a 34 service percentage. Pervak finished the game with a 60 first serve percentage, two aces, a double faults and a 66 return percentage, while Birnerova added to her performance a 81 first serve percentage, three double faults and a 42 receiving percentage.

The 20 year old Ksenia had previously ousted Urszula Radwanksa 6-2, 6-4 in what was one of her best performances of the season. “I’m happy to be in the finals. In women’s tennis, the players are so close in ability that that on any one day, anyone can beat anyone. I would not like to make a prediction, but for sure I’m going to do my best,” said the player before meeting the Czech in the last term.

Previous to the Radwanksa win, she had also ousted Victoria Larriere in twos sets, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarter finals, Sabina Sharipova 6-3, 6-3 in the second round and Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 7-5 in the first day.
