People living in the neighborhood of the airport said that they heard the plane flying over their heads outside Cork city and that from the sound they could say that there was something wrong with it.

Eyewitnesses say that the police turned people back from the airport, telling them that there would be no flights today.

Some say that there were people inside the airport who were waiting for those who were in the plane and were killed or injured.

The flight, BPS 7100, scheduled daily from Belfast to Cork, left the airport in Belfast at 0812GMT.

The Cork Country Council said that the priority of the emergency center was to help survivors and find the four people who are still unaccounted for. The council confirmed the dead and the wounded as well as the fact that Cork Airport was closed.

The passenger manifest of the flight has been handed over to the police so that they may be found.
