Platini hospitalized after fainting
UEFA President Michel Platini was hospitalized yesterday due to a fainting in a restaurant, official William Gaillard declared. The French was also suffering from flu which might have caused his fainting, taking account that the incident happened before President’s eating at the Pigalle restaurant in the suburb of Sandto. The 55-year-old was quickly sent to a hospital in Johannesburg to be taken care of. The UEFA official also declared Platini is now undergoing medical tests, being also conscious at the moment.
Gaiialrd also added: “He is fine. He had been suffering from a cold and a bit of flu and he fainted before eating in a restaurant. He is still in hospital now undergoing tests but he is conscious and is fine. It is not true that he has had a heart attack. His blood sugar was a little low because he hadn’t eaten and had a little fever. He stood up and just fainted.”

Furthermore, the official mentioned that the tests President have already made look very good and there is no reason to worry about: “All the tests so far have shown there is nothing to worry about. I spoke to somebody who was with him in the hospital about five minutes ago and he said Michel was fine.”
Michel Platini is one of the biggest French footballers ever, leading his team the European trophy in 1984. In 2007 he was confirmed President of UEFA after he got elected with 27 votes, while his opponent Lennart Johansson (who held UEFA presidency for 16 years) got only 23.
