Politicians of Cuba are warned by Fidel Castro of Nuclear War

Friday at the Foreign ministry Fidel Castro respondead to questions from Cuban ambassadors and gave them a warning of the global nuclear war that he believes to be imminent. This is the first clear political intervention since four years ago when he disappeared from the political scene because of his health problems. This was the fifth appearance this week and the first one with high government officials. The media is observing closely the 83 year old revolutionary leader and former president to see if he is trying to come back on the political stage in this sensitive time. Cuba’s government is now under Raul Castro, who is almost freeing a lot of political prisoners, is in front of an economic depression and he is enforcing on high level corruption.
Fidel Castro didn’t interfere with his brother’s domain staying out of discussing national issues. He was very focused on the approaching nuclear war idea putting the United States and the Israeli nation against Iran.
“When something like this (nuclear war) begins, all the responses are preprogrammed,” Castro warned. “It is only a question of seconds.”
For more than 90 minutes, Fidel Castro with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriques at his side took questions from the ambassador corps who came for a regular scheduled meeting in Havana. The meeting was broadcast by the national TV and an article was written on Cubadebate website.
“Thank you, Comandante,” said the Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriquez at the end. “We are very excited about your presence here this morning.”
In the last week Castro has met with scientists at a research center, has given an interview about an affairs program, visited an economic center ad even went to see a dolphin show at the aquarium. In all of this public appearance “El Comandante” insisted on the idea that United States would start a nuclear war.
In one of his written discourse he predicted that the South African World Cup that recently completed would be disturbed by a rising conflict. Later he apologizes and explained that he received from a Foreign Ministry functionary some outdated information, but still he stands his grounds about the imminent nuclear war.
In July 2006 after an emergency intestinal surgery he renounced his place and instated his brother. Since then he has occasionally met with dignitaries from other countries, but the visit at the research facility was the first public location in which Castro appeared with the media present since his surgery.
At the present moment the Cuban leader seems interested in many areas and that confuses the people not knowing if “El Comandante” would take back the power or not.

Since the dictator Batista was defeated in 1959 Fidel Castro and his brother Raul have ruled the country. Many years Castro’s health was a subject for rumors and his appearance will be analyzed for aging signs.
