Priority Inbox when you feel overwhelmed by e-mails

The specialists from Google know very well the problems that the users are facing, and one of those problems is that every day they receive more and more emails and sometimes people feel overwhelmed by the number.

So, because the Google team is actually running on email their entire activity, their inboxes are full every day with hundreds, if not thousands of messages and they must not loose time with reading it all of them. In that case, they want to read only the important mails, those who need a reply, appointments and so on.

This is the reason why they have launched yesterday a new service, called Priority Inbox, available for now only in beta version. In this way, from now on you will save precious time because the service will act like an assistant for you, splitting the emails after the level of priority.

Since the Gmail was launched, the service has been good in filtering the emails and separating the important ones from the junk. We already know that the junk gets into the spam folder, but there is another category of mails: the ones that are not junk, and in the same time not so important for the user. These mails are called “bologna” or simply “bacn”.

The software engineers from Gmail worked hard in order to extend the level of filtration, so that the users to see his emails classified in “important”, “junk” or “bologna” as better as possible. In this way, Priority Inbox turns to be very useful, because it will help people to concentrate on the important messages that need to be read and in this way they will save a lot of time.

If you want to know how the service actually works, you will be happy to know that you don’t need to set complicated ruled to have your mails arranged. Priority Inbox is designed to split your inbox messages into three separate sections: “Important and unread”, “Starred” and “Everything else”.

Basically, when an email is entering in your inbox, the priority service will automatically “tag” it as important, if it really is important. Now you probably ask yourselves how the service dies know which one is important is which one is not.

Well, for example, if you are getting many messages from one of your friends and you always reply to it, then those mails are probably important, so the Priority Inbox will remember that and when you will receive another mail from your friend, it will be sent in the first section, which is “Important and unread”.

You have probably figured out by now that you can help Gmail to get better every day, because, just like a personal assistant, he will permanently learn new things and apply them, so that you enjoy an improved Gmail experience every day.

But because we know that the service can’t be perfect from the first day, you can help it by clicking the minus and plus buttons to modify a flagged conversation as important or not important. In this way, you can even use additional filters to mark certain things and important or unimportant, and to rearrange or personalize the three sections of the feature.

Before they had released the new tool, you must know that it was hardly tested inside the company, as well as it was tested by the Google Apps users both at home and at the office, and because it finally passed the test, now it is ready for other people to try it.

The service will be available for all the Gmail users, including those who use Google Apps, starting with the next week. You can figure out when the tool became available by checking out the top corner or your Gmail account. When you see there the link “New! Priority Inbox” you will know that from the next second you have your own personal assistant.11
