Rihanna and Eminem New Video
The video for “Love The Way You Lie” single has just been launched. Yes, everybody was curious to see how will a video of a Rihanna featuring Eminem single look like, but it seems that the two famous singers wanted to shock a little. And if this was their purpose, they surely managed to accomplish it by “playing with fire”.The video presents an interesting subject, which actually can be linked to domestic violence, a subject that can not be considered quite new for the 22 years old singer. Well, the story of the video has two main actors, characters interpreted by Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan. They form a couple that seems to have some problems with fighting, drinking, but also pyromania and shoplifting and of course, jealousy. The interesting part of the relationship presented between Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan is that they continuously fight and then kiss during the whole video.
Well, this doesn’t mean that the video is missing all action. At some point the couple goes into a bar, and after playing with each other manipulative emotional games, get involved in a fight. The character interpreted by Monaghan is of course defending the love he has for the girl, played by Fox. But, behind the fights, what the video is trying to show, and quite manages to do it really good, is the emotional trauma the characters are going through.
Rihanna is just presented singing in front of a burning house, that is most likely to represent the home of the fighting couple, that just burst into flame the same way their relationship did. On the other hand, Eminem sings on a field of yellow grass. Of course, the 37 years old singer is wearing the already famous rapping undershirt. The video is directed by Joseph Kahn.
However, it seems that the video is actually exactly what the singers wanted as Eminem told the media. “Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic on board for this. They really brought it and made this video super-powerful,” the 37 years old singer said. Megan Fox, often referred to as one of the most sensual actresses on Hollywood, accepted the part in this video, and she wanted to donate the money to a Sojourn House, which is a shelter for abused women. Quite a nice gesture for the 24 years old actress.
However, the whole project should be appreciated. Rihanna and Eminem dedicated the video of the single “Love The Way You Lie”, a song that became famous before it’s official release, to domestic violence, which is today making numerous victims all over the world. The video itself was very much expected and it looks like the famous singers didn’t disappointed. The song is included in Eminem’s last album “Recovery”.
Both Rihanna and Eminem have a history regarding domestic violence. If in Eminem case we can mostly talk about a marriage that didn’t work with Kim, the mother of his daughter, Rihanna had some serious trouble with domestic violence. The 22 years old actress got beaten up by her boyfriend, famous singer also, Chris Brown, back in 2009. Everybody knows the event because it was in every magazine’s front page.
So, even if after all it is only a song, the singer’s initiative and their collaboration with Megan Fox says a lot. But, however, the song has already become very popular in the United States, and it is hard to believe that the fact that some people may not appreciate the video will make the song less likable.
