Robots, not Aliens, Scientists Say
There have been numerous movies about alien invasions: “Independence Day”, “War of the Worlds”, “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, and so on.
According to the researchers the majority of these movies are unreal, in the sense that they portray the aliens as being living creatures, similar to us. The scientists have stated that all the scientific facts indicate that in case our planet will be visited or attacked by aliens, they will be 100 percent mechanical, similar to the robots from Transformers. Michael Dyer, a professor of computer science at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that there is a 99.9999999 percent chance that in case we will get to witness an alien visit or invasion, the visitors or the conquerors will be robots and not E.T like creatures as we often get to see in the movies. It seems that this issue is debated quite a lot amongst the scientists. They say that if an alien civilization will be able to visit our planet, it is very likely that their technology is so advanced, that they were able to replace their natural organs with mechanical ones. We somewhat have this opportunity in the sense that we can live with an artificial lung, or with a mechanical heart pump, but we are very limited.

Dyer said that it is also very likely that in the future, we as well will be interested in becoming more and more mechanic. We will start including more and more technology into our bodies until one day we might become robots. The scientists say that another reason why it is more plausible for the visiting aliens to be robots is because they would be able to visit whatever planet they prefer without having to worry about the natural environmental conditions. Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, also added that there is no way that the aliens who might visit us someday to be biological. He said that since we as humans can not go to other planets because we would not be able to live, neither the aliens would be able to visit ours. According to him, the movies portray the situation wrong, in the sense that the aliens are able to visit whatever planet they like without worrying about the environmental conditions. Dyer said that in about 200 years or so, humanity will cease to exist, and according to him there are four different ways in which robots will be able to completely replace us. The robots will be better than us, more adaptable than us, superior to us from any point of view.
According to him, the first path which will lead to the robot domination will be through our computer dependence. We will become more and more dependent to the technology. The second path is similar to the one seen in the Terminator movies, in which humanity has created military robots which in the end decided to attack the humans. More and more robots are being used in the army; think about the planes without pilots for example. However, he added that the robots could be able to take control without violence. As I said, it is very likely that we will become more and more cyborg-like in the future. The scientists have stated for a very long time that they wish to transfer the content of the mind into a hard drive. They say that the robots might be able to control our minds when we try to connect the technology to our brains. Ray Kurzweil, a well known futurist, said that it is very likely that we will become more robotized in the future because of our desire to find other planets.

Currently, with our technology, it would take us tens of years in order to reach a distant planet. We would need to be able to travel at higher speeds, and we would not be able to do that in our biological state. According to the scientists, another reason why it is very likely for the aliens to be robots is because they would be much older than us. We have existed for less than 4 billion years and we have started to emerge as intelligence beings in the last thousands of years and so. The other civilizations might have billions of years ahead of us, and in case they do, they would most likely be more advanced from a technological point of view. In case they exist, there are high chances for them to find us. They might want to find new sources of energy, or they might be curious about what else exists in the Universe. The scientists have said that in case they find us, we will not have a chance. We would either become their slaves, or we would simply be eliminated. Of course this is only if, and it is a big “if” the aliens actually exist.
