Ronaldo's arrival on Bernabeu

Not performing too much since his arrival in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo foresees a great season for Real in both La Liga and Champions League, especially now that the team has been joined by the two time Champions League coach winner Jose Mourinho plus other very good transfers, including midfielder Mesut Ozil and former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho. The Portuguese star showed aware of Real’s politics of winning anything possible and said that he has a special feeling about the season that just started. Former Manchester United player joined Madrid last year after spending six seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson. He won the Champions League final in 2008 against Chelsea in Moscow.

Thus, both the midfielder and also Mourinho dream of a new Champions League trophy. Ronaldo is in front of his second one with Real, while the Portuguese manager aims his third UCL trophy with the third different team. Mou won the UCL in 2004 with FC Porto and last year with Inter Milano. This club, as always, has the ambition to win the Champions League. I have a special feeling about this season. We can win, but we cannot put pressure on ourselves. We have all the necessary ingredients to win the competition, but we have to take one step at a time. We are happy with our game on Saturday. Our goal was to win the match and take three points. We can play better and score more strikes. I’m sure we’ll do better, we’ll grow more confident and we’ll win. We are going to win this year. I have a feeling we will. I am ambitious and I want to win. Mourinho is the best coach in the world and I’m sure we will win and create spectacle,” Ronaldo, who already scored 26 goals for Real in 31 appearances, said.

The midfielder claimed in the same time that despite the fans need to see every time spectacular games and many goals, this isn’t possible. Real Madrid started this season with a 0-0 draw against Mallorca away, while Mourinho’s debut on Santiago Bernabeu was crown in the second day with a 1-0 victory that came from newly transferred Carvalho. So, only one goal in two games might not thrill the fans that much. But still, Ronaldo continues: “At times it isn’t possible to play well and be spectacular. It’s better for the fans to help us and motivate us to play well. Our supporters have fun when the team plays well and scores goals, but we can’t thrill them with brilliance all the time. It is on occasion convenient for fans to thrill players as well. All of us at the stadium want what’s best for Real Madrid and, together, we can make this a feared  team at home. “I don’t think Barcelona are weaker this year because the season has just started. I was surprised by their defeat because I didn’t expect it, but you can’t value a situation when only two games have taken place.”

Real took advantage of Barca’s loss in front of new promoted Hercules, who defeated the European champions 2-0 on Camp Nou. Guardiola’s side has now three points in two games, one behind Real. Ronaldo claimed in the same time that when Mourinho declared that the midfielder should be protected by the referees, the Portuguese referred to his team mates as well. “I’m sure Mourinho didn’t just mean I alone had to be protected by referees. I’m sure he also meant other players, and not just those at Real Madrid. In general, people who create spectacle should be overprotected. I’m sure I will soon score again. Don’t worry about it. We have to think exclusively about winning right now. This team is under construction; many of us had never played together before,” he ended.

To the opposite side is Mourinho himself who said these days that he doesn’t feel relaxed about the match against Ajax the way he felt in weekend against Osasuna when the manager said the he knew the his time will win at all times. The Spaniards seem to start with a handicap, according to Mou’. The Dutch played more official games than Real, thing which incommodes him, taking account that he played only two official games since the arrival, unlike Ajax’s ten. “I am not at all relaxed heading into Wednesday because it is the Champions League and Ajax have already played four matches in the competition and ten official games in total. They should be somewhat more fit than us. Despite the fact that we have had trouble building plays, finishing and picking out the rhythm of matches, we are the favorite and we must win because it is crucial to get off to a good start in the Champions League. Ajax’s style of play is different to that of Osasuna, so it should be quite a different match than today’s. They have some very talented players,” he ended. Real Madrid is part of the group G, along with AC Milan, Ajax Amsterdam and AJ Auxerre.11
