Saiqa Akhter faces death penalty for strangling her children
Saiqa Akhter, the Texas mother accused of strangling her two children told a 911 operator that she killed both children because they were suffering from autism and she could not stand them any more because she wanted to have normal kids like everyone did.
The 30 years old mother strangled her two children, Zain and Faraal, aged 5 and 2, and then called 911. The 911 operator audio recorded her call and taped her saying that she killed both her children. She also told the operator that she tried killing them by forcing them drink bathroom cleaner, but they refused to swallow, so she strangled them with a wire wrapped around their necks. She said that she knew what she did was wrong and that the police will come and get her, but both of her children were autistic and they were driving her mad.

The paramedics that came to Akhter’s apartment after the phone call found both children unconscious. Zain was pronounced dead at the hospital, and his sister, Faraal, was taken off life support three days later after the doctors established that she had no chance to recover. The mother faces capital murder charges and could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
