An Iranian nuclear scientist that has been missing has taken refugee at the Pakistani embassy from Washington and wants to return to his homeland as soon as possible.

Shahram Amiri has disappeared in June 2009 during a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. Iran has claimed that the United States has abducted Shahram Amiri, charges denied by the Americans. United States has reported this year in March that the 32 years old scientist entered America and helped the CIA to undermine Iran’s nuclear program. Amiri deepened confusion by declaring that he was abducted by American and Saudi agents and taken to the United States, but then changed its declaration saying that he was studying in America. Iranian media published a report saying that Shahram Amiri got in the Iranian embassy office and demanded that he wanted to return immediately to Iran.

Abdul Basit, the spokesman of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, says that the scientist showed up at the Iranian embassy and never left it. He also declared that arrangements are being made to send him back to Iran. Amiri‘s appearance threatens Washington’s image, which accuses Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons. This insinuation is denied by Iran, who says that its nuclear research is made for peaceful purposes.
