Smog Around Russia
What is happening lately with the weather? Hard to tell, people are all over the place while they surprisingly feel there is nothing left to do to defeat this mortality. While at the beginning of the summer the mortality rate all around Moscow, according to CNN, was between 360 to 380 cases, the mortality rate has gone to be doubled these days. Therefore, according to Andrei Seltsovsky, the mortality rate today, per day is of around 700 deaths.
Why is this happening? This is happening mainly to the heat that surrounds Russia. The streak and the heat that makes it impossible for one to live in, trigger so many deaths and let alone so many innocent people. The situation is so bad as from a total number of 1,500n slots, 1,300 of them are occupied at the moment. What the official departments hope, is that they will not find themselves in the situation of not having anywhere to put the corpses.
All in all, there are the wildfires
that are believed to be the cause of everything that is happening in Russia. Over 50 people’s death were related to wildfires, while another 62 people were suffering from different hospitalization problems, as the wildfire had as well impact on the aliments that one ate. Apart from those that were actually having problems after having eaten some aliments that caught the wildfire contamination, a wider number of 741 people came to the hospitals to seek for wildfire medical help.
What does a wildfire refer to? Wildfires occur on each and every continent, less Antarctica. They appear as an effect of weather on the fire. This differs from a normal fire due to its extensive manner, so it has the potentiality of spreading out from its original source, of jumping gaps such as roads, rivers, fire breaks, and as well it can change directions unexpectedly. This is not an unnatural thing to happen but is a thing that is preferred but to happen so very often. The thing is that it can damage not only properties, nature but as well human life and wilderness life. Even though there are some plants that these fires cause well to, most of the plants are not a part of these.
Even though there are many strategies to fight wildfire, and as well there are international wildfire management experts that are trying to find more and more possibilities to fight this disaster and to case it from happening so often, in Russia, this year, it seems that it has taken control over everything.
According to the Ministry, out of the 83 regions of the country, 22, especially those that are from the central Russia are affected by this thing. This is not likely to change as the temperatures are predicted to remain high in the next days, until the middle and after, of August.
If this is the case, the Moscow industrial businesses are asked to start cutting emissions by 20 to 40 percentages in order to reduce the air pollution. As the Russian meteorological service, Roshydrojmet, believes that the air will remain polluted as despite of the fact of what is actually going on, there are as well toxic emissions from the motor vehicles and the industrial enterprises.
“The highest levels were registered on August 7 and 8, with the concentration of particulate dust exceeding the permitted level by 3.4 times. It is very harmful for the human body as it accumulates in it and is virtually not excreted,” according to Alexander Frolov, who is in charge of Roshydromet.
This is all about the levels of the carbon monoxide and of the ozone. These are registered to be higher than the actual allowed norms. This period is believed to be one of the worst periods that Russia has registered so far.
It is highly known that Russia is prone to the wildfires happenings. This includes the Moscow region and as well a big part of Russia. Russia is the fifth country of having the highest risk of catching wildfire. In Russia, at the moment a total number of 554 wildfires are going on and the area that these cover is over 190,000 hectares. This situation not only affects people, life around there but as well the agricultural situation. As there are no expectations for precipitations, they are thinking of the possibility of planting winter crops. This year is expected to have a decrease in the crops with 30 percentages, fact that is hoped not to be happening in the following year.
In this regard there was put a ban on the grain export. For the moment it is believed to last from the 15th August till late December, but it depends on the
results of the crops and just then will the decision be taken.
According to Putin, this situation is temporary, but this decision was needed as they need first of all to worry about their citizens and their state and then about other countries. “The question is what the country will be left with in 2011. We don’t know what the harvest will be and how much carry-over grain there’ll be in 2011.”
Frolov believes that in a frame time period of 1,000 years, since the country’s foundation, they have not experience such a difficult period. This is why; they should be very careful how they manage the entire situation, as it is not an easy thing to deal with.
