Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking is a controversial person, and he made the headlines a month ago, when he made a pretty bold statement. He said that the world was not created by God, as the divine intervention was not needed in order for the world to be created.

You might not see his statement as being strange because he is a scientist, and it is often believed that the scientists are atheists, and in fact, the most of them are. The reason why the statement came as a surprise is because he previously stated that God created the universe. He has done this numerous times before; making bold statements, only to retract them afterwards, in embarrassment. The problem is greater in his case, because he is one of the most physicists in the world. Everything he says draws the attention of the media, of the people, and of the other scientists.

His later claim has been presented in news reports from all over the world. “If he said it, then things must be true”, this is what many people believe. Like I said, he has done this for numerous times, and these are some of his most famous claims which he then later retracted. He was involved in the idea of “parallel universes” in quantum cosmology. He was no the only scientists who have stated that the wormholes exist. The wormholes are some sort of tunnels which have the capacity of connecting two parallel universes. It is believed that there are very many parallel universes and that all of them are connected. Hawking then stated that they do not exist, and that has disappointed lots of scientists.

In his famous book “A Brief History of Time”, he made the second bold claim. He stated that science could be the key to understanding God’s mind. That meant that he believes in God, only that it is more difficult to understand Him that it was previously believed. He released “The Grand Design” this year, where he said that God was not needed in the creation of the world, and that it is not necessarily to understand him.

He also made numerous claims regarding the black holes. He stated that the light can not escape from the black holes, and he was so confident about this, that he made a bet with Dr. Kip Thorne and John Preskill about this topic. He lost the bet in 1997, when a computer simulation by Matthew Choptuik of the University of Texas/Austin showed that the black holes can collapse, which means that the light can escape from the black holes. Because of this simulation, Hawking changed his mind, and acknowledged the fact that light can escape from the black holes.

His fourth bold statement was made when he said that the so-called “theory of everything” will be identified very soon. In 2005 he changed his mind again, saying not only that the theory is not very easy to find, but that the theory does not exist. The fifth bold statement was made about the inflationary universe”. It has been said that Hawking had a completely theory about it than Alan Guth , and that he later adopted Guth’s theory.

This does not prove that Hawking is not a good physicist, as he is a great one, since he offers numerous theories which proved to be true. The problem is with the media, which sees Hawking as some sort of a god, and which takes anything he says for granted. They do not bother to make investigations in the domain, they publish everything he says because it is a known fact that his theories are very popular. Since he made so many claims, which he then retracted, it makes one wonder if he was interested in the topic, or if he only did it for publicity and for the fame. He is a human after all, and like all the humans, he must want attention too. There are many claims he made which have caught everyone’s attention. One of the claims was that the earth will become destroyed in the future, and that the only thing we could do about it would be to move on a different planet.

The claim was very dramatic one, and as many people have stated, it was much exaggerated. First of all, the future he was referring to was over hundreds or thousands of years, and the thing is that the claim is uncertain. There have been numerous experts in the domain that have stated that Hawking did not have a proof which would back-up his statement, and that it is unlikely that that particular scenario will prove to be true. They have stated that if one wants to make such important claims, he must use data in order to prove the claims. As you can imagine, the media loved the story, and they published it over and over again. This is not the first time since he has made similar claims regarding the state of the planet in the years to come. The problem is that his claims have made many of the scientists ignore the present problems, focusing on means of stopping the future problems which Hawking was talking about.

The other scientists stated that that was a huge mistake made both by Hawking and by the scientists as well. The reality is that Hawking knows how to play his cards; for example for the book “A Brief History of Time”, he put himself on the cover, in the state that he is currently in. Many have claimed that his picture should have not been posted on the cover, because such a thing should not be done on a physics book. His book was a huge success, as he sold more copies than any other physicist. The book was the most successful physics book of all times. Many say that the main reason why he is so popular is because of his terrible disease. That is a bit harsh, but it makes you wonder if it is true though.11

One Response to Stephen Hawking and His Theories

  1. Tato Sugiarto says:

TORTOISE (Hinduism) and DRAGON (Taoism) are symbols for ENERGY or WAVE, both are analog with MAGEN DAVID (Judaism). “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is the metaphor, also Thawaf seven times circling around the Ka’ba and Sa’i oscillating along “the sinus” Marwah-Shafa during rituals of the Hajj (Abraham).
“A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME – From the Big Bang to Black Hole” by Stephen W. Hawking is the best scientific interpretation of AL QUR’AN by a non believer. It is also a “genuine bridge stone” for comprehensive study of Theology. Surprise, this paradox is a miracle and blessing in disguise as well. So, it should be very wise and challenging for Moslem scholars to verify my discovery.
