Apocalypse now

It is said that the earth will be destroyed in the Apocalypse, similar to the flood which has been presented in the Bible, and that everyone on earth will die. There have been numerous movies which have dealt with this situation, presenting numerous ways in which all the people could lose their lives: robots, zombies, plagues, and so on. In what follows I am going to give you some bizarre apocalypse scenarios.

A mysterious clay tablet made by the Sumerians was found in the Middle East some years ago, and on it there was a depiction of the solar system.  There was something strange on it though, as it had 11 planets instead of 9, as our solar system has. It has been suggested that one of the extra planets must have been the moon, but the mystery of that extra planet still remains. The clay tablet presented the planets as if they were pulled by an exterior force in the outer solar system. The theory of the Planet X was created as a result. You see, Planet X is considered to be 100s of time larger than our planet, and to have an orbit of 3,600 years.  It is believed that when it will reach our solar system, it will cause total destruction, as everything will be pulled towards it. It could stop the rotation of the earth, and it could reverse the poles. It could even push us into the sun.

The theory of the Universal Fine Tuning factor seems like a Matrix scenario, because it says that everything that exists in our solar system is being control by someone or something. Every single thing in this world: animals, stars, plants, heat, are under one’s influence.  Fred Hoyle was the first who noticed this. It seems that everything is perfect, and the entire galaxy goes like a fined tuned machine. If a part could malfunction, then the entire machine will suffer. That is the exact situation with the world. Think about it; if the force of the atom nuclei would be a little bit stronger, then everything would explode seconds after they would be created. If they would be weaker, nothing would exist because nothing could be formed. What if someone decides to mess with the remote control of the world?

This one might happen sooner than you think. The runway greenhouse effect could make the environment behave in a really strange manner. The temperatures could increase very fast, and as a result all the ice caps could melt. Yes, I know, you are sick of hearing about the global warming, but the Runaway Greenhouse Effect is beyond that point. If the earth reaches that stage, there is no chance of going back. If it will take place, then we will all die, because as the temperature rises and the water evaporates, more and more heat will be trapped on earth and we would basically cook in the sun. It is said that if nothing is done about it, then this critical stage might occur in 2015.

This scenario is similar to the one seen in the movie “Children of Men”. As you might know, there are many men and women who can not conceive, but what you might have not known, is the fact that the number of the sterile people is on a constant rise. The problem is getting worse and worse, and the scientists believe that it could affect the future generations. It is unknown why this happens, but many experts have said that it is because of pollution. Anyway, this extinction, or apocalypse would be a very slow one. Less and less children will be born and in thousands of years very few people would roam the streets. The planet will be back to the Middle Ages again, as the technology would not progress, in fact it would regress because of the lack of experts.

I am certain that you have heard about the theory that our planet will be hit by a large comet. Movies have been made about the subject, and books have been written about it. What people do not know, is the fact that Gliese-710, a Red Dwarf star, is getting closer and closer to us. It might not hit the planet Earth, but even if it would enter our solar system, it would create so much damage, that we would be destroyed. Fortunately, this particular star, and the others like it, is at a very far distance from us. It will take tens of thousands of years before it will hit us.

I am certain that you saw the news about the Large Hadron Collider last year. The scientists wanted to recreate the Big Bang, so they created this huge machine which would be able to recreate the process. It is said that the Large Hadron Collider could destroy the planet, but many believe that it could destroy the entire Universe. The Universe is made out of vacuum energy, and it could explode if it is triggered. The Large Hadron Collider could be the fuse. The scientists said that such a thing will never happen, because in nature, the particles smash into each other all the time. What they forgot to say was that some of the particles which will be used in the experiment do not exist in nature.

We are slowly approaching the age of the nanotechnology. You could say that we are there already, as the technology exists, only that we do not know how to fully control it. These microscopic robots will be used in all sorts of domains, such as medicine, various industries, and so on. The main way of using them would be to make them self-replicate. That is a huge concern, as we could lose them out of control. It is believed that if such a thing would happen, all the atoms in the world would be turned into nanobots in 72 hours. That’s scary.11
