Tanya Angus, on her way to the fourth surgery
Tanya Angus, a beautiful 21 years old young girl that rode horses and had a normal life, started one day to notice changes in her 5-foot-8-inch figure: her shoes did not fit anymore, her jeans were too tight and her hands got bigger than they used to be.
She used to be perfectly normal until she reached 22 years, when she noticed that she has grown three inches and no one knew what was wrong. Tanya lived at that time in Michigan and was a supervisor at a Walmart and began to worry when even her face and head got bigger. This is the time when she got fired and was left by her boyfriend. Tanya decided to return home to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2002 and her sister was supposed to pick her up at the airport, but she did not recognize her.

The doctor diagnosed her with acromegaly, also known as gigantism, caused by a brain tumor hat is pushing on her pituitary gland that is producing growth hormone in excess. Tanya Angus, who is now 31, is 6-feet 11-inches tall and weights 372 pounds. Tanya seems to be the only known documented case in the world in which surgery and medications do not work to control her height and weight. She had already undergone three surgeries and is scheduled for one more at Saint John’s Health Center at John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. Hopefully this surgery will fix the problem, the only thing is that they can not find any vehicle that can fit her.
