JetBlue felt necessary that they would give 100 dollar vouchers to passengers on the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to New York flight and two days after one of its flight attendants quit his job with a big fuss after an altercation related to s passenger’s luggage.

They decided to take it easy and make fun about it, so the company’s blog had a posting entitled, “Sometimes the weird news is about us”, thinking that this is the best answer to Steven Slater’s showing off. The blog commented on the flight attendant’s behavior, saying that it would be unfair if they only noticed and commented absurdities happening to other companies.

They have an open investigation going regarding Slater’s behavior, but anyways everyone has been talking lately about that incident. The story is that when JetBlue Flight 1052 stopped on the JFK Airport, one of the passengers wanted to get his bag from the overhead compartment. Slater told him to remain seated, but before finishing he was struck by the passenger’s bag when he got it down. He wished that the passenger would apologize, but instead he responded with obscene language, so the flight attendant responded in the same manner, activated the emergency inflatable slide, grabbed two beers and slid down the chute. After that he took his car and drove home to Belle Harbor, Queens. He was arrested later for criminal mischief, trespassing, and reckless endangerment and was set a bail of 2,500 dollars.

While treating the incident with humor, the blog also praises 2,300 other crewmembers, which are considered to be true professionals. JetBlue said that giving vouchers is according to their customer policy and they often do that when they experience a disruption or otherwise abnormal circumstance. Slater is facing criminal charges because of the incident and declared that he has been supported by the public more than he ever expected. Having a scratch on his forehead, he declared while leaving a Bronx detention center that he is likely to lose his job. Diane Slater, his mother, defended him saying that she does not believe that he will be in trouble very log, and that everyone has the right to a little “meltdown” once in a while. The tension between Slater and the passenger seems to have begun in Pittsburgh, at the departure of the plane. He told that a female passenger was trying to put her luggage in the overhead bin and when he offered to help she started cursing and slammed the overhead luggage bin on his head.

After the flight landed at JFK, Slater approached the female who was trying to get out her bag and told her that she is not allowed to stand while the plane is still running and has to remain seated until the pilot has reached the gate. The passenger cursed Slater again when she found out that she had to wait at baggage claim to get her luggage back. The authorities say that the second degree criminal mischief and the first degree reckless endangerment charges might hold Slater in jail for seven years if the judge rules against him.
