Sir Ian McKellen has not been cast yet as Gandalf for the upcoming LOTR prequel, 'The Hobbit'

“The Hobbit” is almost starting filming and there’s no Gandalf signed yet! What’s that about? Didn’t they hear about Sir Ian McKellen?!

Although everyone is sure that the actor will be cast to play the incredible wizard, Gandalf, in the both Lord of the Rings prequels, there’s no official new about it yet. What’s more is that PopEater got in contact with Sir Ian McKellen and he said that he only wanted a phone call from Warner Bros. He has been taking a 6-month vacation, to rest (lucky him!) and he said that he expects his next job to be as Gandalf. However, he has not yet been contacted by the company. “I’m still waiting for a contract,” McKellen told PopEater.

As you probably know, Ian McKellen played the part of Gandalf, first the grey and then the white wizard, who helps the hobbits accomplish their mission, throughout the entire three parts of the Lord of the Rings. Taking into account that The Hobbit is a prequel to LOTR, everyone expects Gandalf to be the same!

Anyway, we are anxious to hear great news in what concerns Ian McKellen’s being cast as Gandalf and very eager to see if The Hobbit will be as successful as the Lord of the Rings. The filming for the film is to begin in New Zealand, although there were some problems with deciding over the location. They all finally decided that New Zealand (the place where LOTR was filmed) was the best place to shoot The Hobbit.11
